aftercare

IT IS IMPORTANT TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR FRESHLY DONE PERMANENT MAKEUP

Please read and follow the aftercare advice below.

Immediately after the treatment you may experience some swelling, redness and tenderness.

Day 2 - 7

You may experience the following for 2 - 5 days after the treatment:

• Tenderness.

• Flaking.

• Dryness and itchiness in the treated area.

• Swelling and redness.

It is common between day 7-21, that the pigment may lighten as the skin heals. Only at the end of the 28 day healing process will you see the true healed look.

All clients will need to wipe their brows with cool boiled water the evening after the treatment and the next morning. This will remove any excess lymphatic fluid and help prevent over scabbing which can affect the healed results.

Oily skin - oily skin naturally produces more oil which will help keep the cosmetic tattoo hydrated. There is no need to apply healing cream or gel as this could over hydrate the tattoo and cause a build up of product which in turn could cause an infection.

Normal to Dry skin - use the healing cream or gel provided to you by your artist to help keep the tattoo hydrated and stop excess flaking or the tattoo drying out.

You should be applying this as follows.

Always wash your hands before applying the balm provided to you as part of your aftercare.

  • Apply the balm twice a day for the next 7 days. Always wipe away the gel with cool boiled water before applying more.

Here are the important DO NOTS;

Some itching is normal. Do not pick, peel or scratch the treated area. This may result in the colour healing unevenly and you could also risk scarring and infection. Allow the wound to flake on its own.

  • Do not apply powder foundation and/or powders for 1 week after the treatment.

  • Do not wax or tint your brow area for 4 weeks after your treatment.

  • Do not expose the healing skin to extreme heat, cold or moisture for two weeks following your treatment. This can include direct sun, tanning beds, jacuzzis, saunas, salt water, chlorinated pools, direct shower spray, skin creams or ointments other than what you have been instructed to use.

  • Do not apply Vaseline type ointments to the area for a week after the treatment. After this time, ointments of this type can be applied and are recommended if you plan to use chlorinated pools and jacuzzis

Long term aftercare.

• In order to keep your permanent cosmetics in perfect condition it may be necessary to have a maintenance procedure about every 12 - 18 months, though this will vary for each individual.

• To avoid pigment fade for as long as possible, avoid excessive exposure to the sun or UV rays and use a good sunscreen or moisturiser with an SPF 50.

• Take care when using moisturisers and other skin products which contain glycolic or fruity acids. These can fade permanent make-up.

• If you are planning an MRI scan, chemical peel or any other similar procedures please inform your practitioner that you have had permanent cosmetics.

• Please inform the National Blood Service if you donate blood, as you may not be eligible to give blood for four months post-procedure.

• If you are planning on having anti -ageing injectables or cosmetic surgery, remember these procedures can alter the shape of your eyebrows.

• Laser hair removal can fade and change the shade of your brow procedure, always advise the laser technician you are wearing permanent cosmetics and they can act accordingly.
